Different Image Sensor Perhaps?

Greetings,
I am pondering the feasibility of using a different image sensor than the OV6620. The reason is that I find it difficult to find Omnivision sensors for prototyping relative to sensors from other companies that are available on sites such as digikey and the like.

Any thoughts about a Kodak sensor KAC-9647? Do you think it is comparable to the 6620? If yes, then why do people prefer to use the OV version?
